WHAT IS GAS INTERLOCKING?

CORGI regulations require that there must be ventillation of cooking areas that use gas appliances, to ensure clean air for the equipment to burn and to reduce risk of dangerous build up of combustion (by products such as carbon monoxide).

Should the extraction system fail it is therefore mandatory that the system be in a place to discontinue gas supply to equipment within the kitchen.

This is acheived by placing an air flow sensor within the extraction system and an electronic control panel will open a solonoid valve to supply gas only when air flow is detected.

Emergency stop button or buttons are also provided at emergency exits to enable the gas supply to be stopped.

Where equipment is not fitted with flane failures gas proving may be required to test for leaks before permitting gas supply.
